DUNCAN Howorth has been elected president of the Society of Pension Consultants.
Howorth – managing director of Jardine Lloyd Thompson’s employee benefits division – takes over from Law Debenture director Mark Ashworth.
Howorth said: "I would like to pay tribute to outgoing president, Mark Ashworth, for his contribution and leadership over last two years.
"I look forward to developing SPC in its vital role for members in influencing future policy development. SPC remains committed to supporting work based pensions; a key mark of my tenure will be how the introduction of personal accounts is shaped such that it broadens retirement savings in the UK rather than competes with existing saving structures."
The trade body said that it is currently seeking to further dialogue between the pensions industry and political audiences, in particular around the implementation of personal accounts.
