Watson Wyatt announces retirement of Ian Farr

IAN FARR is set to retire from Watson Wyatt at the end of the month.

Farr has advised a wide range of UK companies and trustee bodies on pension matters – and has been scheme actuary to a range of pension schemes in the UK.

He joined the firm in 1987 and became a partner in 1988.

Farr was the chairman of Association of Consulting Actuaries Farr until May 31 this year.

Watson Wyatt European benefits group head Mark Stewart said: "In the years Ian has worked at Watson Wyatt he has been a tremendous asset to us.

"I would like to thank Ian for everything he has contributed and wish him a long and happy retirement."

Farr started his career at The Scottish Mutual Assurance Society where he qualified as a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries in 1971 and subsequently held a series of pensions and marketing executive appointments.

He was also chairman of the Joint Working Group for Occupational Pensions from July 1, 2007 to June 30 this year.
