Leeds Building Society has launched a pilot scheme to outsource its auto-enrolment administration to Equinti ICS.
The trial will see Equinti take responsibility for administration services, managed employee communications, real time reporting and full regulatory reporting.
The building society - the fifth largest in the country - has 900 employees.
Its staging date does not fall until October 2013.
Head of human resources Becky Hewitt said: "Auto-enrolment brings with it a considerable administrative burden which we want to mitigate, whilst ensuring compliance and providing our staff with a high quality experience."
She said the service would use automatic triggers, alerts and workflow management to ensure the firm's obligations were met on time and to the required standard.
"For us, outsourcing was the right choice. It gives us peace of mind and frees up our internal resource to focus on other HR priorities," she added.
Equiniti ICS director Alan Foley said: "We are delighted to announce that the UK's fifth largest building society has been the first to sign up to our outsourced auto-enrolment service in advance of the legal requirement in October."
