EUROPE/UK - Standard & Poor's has appointed Geoff Hawksworth as head of its European investment services business, based in London
Hawksworth will lead the development of S&P’s provision of independent research and indices covering equities and funds in Europe.
He succeeds Alan Redpath, who retired at the start of 2003.
Hawksworth most recently served as managing director of S&P's equity and fund products in Europe. Prior to returning to London in 2001, he was global head of sales for institutional market services in New York. He joined S&P in 1995 as director of Europe for Compustat, the financial and market data business, having previously worked at Reuters in a variety of country management and product management roles.
Hawksworth will now eport to Hendrik Kranenburg, global head of investment services in New York.
S&P’s recent European deals include supplying Nordea, the Nordic banking group, with independent equity research, and launching the S&P/MIB benchmark equity index in Italy.
