GLOBAL - Hedge fund investment house Tremont Advisers has teamed up with US financial analytics and tech company RiskMetrics Group to develop Web-based risk reporting for hedge fund managers and investors.
The joint venture aims to address certain issues specific to alternative investment such as balancing the need of investors for risk exposure information with the need of hedge fund managers to preserve their proprietary trading strategies.
The focus therefore is on the creation of a best reporting practice based on complete transparency of hedge fund positions being made available on a secure basis, said Tremont.
Commenting on the effort, Cynthia Nicoll, director of business development at Tremont, said: Current hedge fund risk reporting is inconsistent and non-transparent, making it difficult to assess risk in the aggregate at the fund of funds and firm level.
Market participants have historically focused on position level transparency while the real issue is risk information and risk aggregation... ”, she added.
