AUSTRALIA - Industry super fund Sunsuper has appointed Queensland Council of Unions general secretary Ron Monaghan as a board director.
He worked for 28 years with the Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union (LHUM), including seven years as secretary of the LHUM's Queensland branch.
Sunsuper chief executive Tony Lally said Monaghan's extensive experience promoting the interests of employees and his proven management skills made him a perfect fit for Sunsuper.
He said: "The mix of board members ensures the interests of all our stakeholders - both members and employers - are best served at the highest level of the organisation.
"Each of the directors' vast experience in their respective industries will also prove invaluable as we move forward with plans to grow the Fund and expand Sunsuper's footprint."
Sunsuper is an independent, multi-industry super fund and operates purely to generate profit for members.
Sponsored by Commerce Queensland, the Queensland Council of Unions, and the Australian Workers' Union, it is managed by a board of directors with equal employer/member representation.
