UK - Merrill Lynch Investment Managers has won a £70m specialist UK equity mandate from mobile phone giant mmO2's pension scheme.
The brief is the third specialist UK equities mandate MLIM has won within the past two months.
MLIM’s specialist UK equities team, led by Steve Thompson, last month won a £150m specialist equity mandate and a £260m bond and cash brief from engineering firm IMI.
Prior to that, the firm picked up a £75m UK specialist equity mandate from aerospace supplier Goodrich Corporation.
MLIM head of institutional business Charles Farquharson said: “Winning the mmO2 mandate, as well as the recent Goodrich and IMI mandates, are further examples of the specialist mandates which we are winning from high quality European clients.”
