Nomura Asset Management has been appointed by LGT Capital Management of Liechtenstein to manage a Japanese small cap equity portfolio which will form part of LGT's global fund range.
The size of the mandate was not disclosed. Nomura will manage the mandate against the Russell Japan small cap index.
“Nomura were able to demonstrate that they had translated their significant resources at their disposal for the management of Japanese small cap stocks into an excellent performance record which, allied to a consistent and disciplined track record, convinced us they were the right choice for our mandate,” said Hanspeter Oehri, managing director, equities, at LGT.
Nomura Asset Management UK, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nomura Asset Management Japan, manages over $178bn of assets globally.

The Pensions Regulator (TPR) has granted 11 master trusts extensions to apply for authorisation, as it confirms it has received 22 applications ahead of the 31 March deadline.
Aegon Master Trust, Fidelity Master Trust and Ensign have sent off their authorisation applications to The Pensions Regulator (TPR).
