RUSSIA - Brunswick Asset Management, the fund management arm of Brunswick Capital, has appointed Karen Clarke as chief executive officer from F&C.
Clarke has been with F&C since 1995. During her seven years there she held various senior positions including chief operating officer of emerging markets, head of group product strategy and development and director of hedge funds.
Clarke’s main responsibility will now be to expand Brunswick’s Russian presence through acquisitions and hirings to exploit what it sees as considerable opportunities for fund managers in the market.
Christopher Mackenzie, newly appointed chairman of holding company Brunswick Capital, said: ”Karen joins us at a time when Brunswick is restructuring to position itself as a leading player in the fast evolving Russian financial services sector.
“A combination of government reform and regulation, public demand and increasing personal wealth means that the time is right to enter this market with new enthusiasm. Our asset management operation will provide western investors the opportunity to do so.”
*Holding company Brunswick Capital has also appointed Roger Wills as chief financial officer. Wills has been chief operating officer of Brunswick UBS since 1998.
Alexei Beltyukov joins as vice president of business development from McKinsey & Company in Moscow where he was an engagement manager. And Alla Svirschevskaya, formerly a management consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, joins the team as an associate.
