US/UK - Gartmore Group has strengthened its hedge fund of funds business with senior hires, following the earlier acquisition of US specialist firm Riverview.
John Gallagher is the new managing director for product development at Gartmore Riverview, based in New Jersey. He joins from DB Absolute Return Strategies, the hedge fund unit of Deutsche Bank in New York, where he was a senior member of the product development and sales team.
Stephen Attenborough becomes head of European institutional sales - fund of hedge funds, based in London. In this role he will work closely with Gallagher on new product initiatives. Attenborough, who has been with Gartmore since 1989, will be moving from his current role as global head of investment consultants. He will continue to report into Frances Davies, head of global institutional.
Riverview was incorporated into Gartmore in May 1999 and currently has around US$360m assets under management.
