UK - Equitable Life, the beleaguered mutual insurer, has appointed Ron Bullen - the chairman of the Equitable Life Policyholders Action Group - to the board, along with two other new appointments.
Aside from Bullen, who joins the board as a non-executive director (NXD), the two other new board members are Scottish lawyer Fred Shedden and Equitable’s chief finance and investment officer Charles Bellringer.
Shedden, like Bullen will join the board as an NXD, whilst Bellringer has been made an executive director. The three appointments are subject to approval from the Financial Services Authority.
Equitable chairman Vanni Treves said of the new appointments: “Both Ron Bullen and Fred Shedden have wide experience and a deep understanding of the concerns of policyholders, and Charles Bellringer has made a significant contribution to the Society since he joined us last year.
