Bains appointed to BGI transition
UK/EUROPE - Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has appointed Jagdeep Bains as head of transition portfolio management.
In this new role Bains has responsibility for defining and managing BGI’s transition trading strategies and implementation in the UK and Europe.
Bains said: Beyond BGI’s standing and reputation as a major transitions manager, I saw the strength of the investment processes and benefits of a global operation. BGI has the scale to offer superior transitions management and I will look to hone this service to clients.
Bains will be based in BGI’s London office and will report to Paul Samuel, head of transition services for BGI Europe. In 2001 BGI Europe managed 380 transitions worth £47bn.
Prior to joining BGI, Bains worked at Merrill Lynch for seven years where he was most recently co-head of the European portfolio trading group. Before this he worked at Barra International for six years in research and client support.
