US - Darlene LeBlanc has been elected to the $14bn Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana (TRSL) board of trustees following a close run-off election.
LeBlanc will begin a four-year term in January, having claimed 50.8% of the vote against one opponent. She replaces Lawrence Moody, whose retirement made him ineligible to stand for re-election.
LeBlanc will represent district one which covers seven parishes, including ascension where she has been a teacher for 27 years.
