US - State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) has appointed Thomas Kennelly to head up its US Liability-Driven Investing (LDI) team.
Kennelly joins SSgA from William J. Lynch and Associates where he was a consultant. He advised corporations in the analysis, design and implementation of various funding and hedging strategies for post- retirement employee and executive benefit obligations.
In this new role Kennelly would be responsible for overseeing the management and development of LDI strategies for SSgA’s institutional clients in the US and report to Michael Wands, senior managing director of fixed income for North America.
Wands said: “Liability-driven investing structures are changing the way pension liabilities are managed, and we have seen a fundamental shift in our clients’ focus from education to implementation of our LDI solutions.”
