UK - Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM) has promoted Raj Shant to head of Continental European equities, based in London.
He takes over duties previously held by Patricia Maxwell-Arnot, covering both institutional and retail activities.
Currently Shant is manager of the CS European Fund, a post he has held since June 2000.
He joined the Credit Suisse Group in 1997 from Royal Insurance Asset Management where he oversaw European equity funds since 1994.
In his new position Shant will work closely with new recruit Ella Brown who joined the firm from JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management in September as London head of European equity research.
Commenting on his new position and the outlook for Europe, Shant added: “Whilst the short term outlook for European markets remains difficult, we believe that they remain an outstanding long term opportunity for investors as the Continental equity markets become more mature.”
