IRELAND - Eircom Superannuation Schemes, the e3bn pension fundsof the Irish telecoms group, is considering investments in emerging market equity and US and European small-cap equity.
Fund officials said that though the fund had a small exposure to emerging markets equities, it was considering increasing this to 5% of the total investment portfolio. The fund would also consider hiring external managers for this mandate, officials added.
The fund has no exposure to US and European small cap equities and could allocate up to 5% to the asset class. This, too, could be managed externally.
“We are weighing both these asset classes and will take a decision over the summer,” said one fund official.
The fund is also expected to decide on investments in alternatives like hedge funds and private equity later this year.
Asset allocation stands at roughly 65% equities and 35% bonds.
