Northern Trust Global Advisors has appointed Margaret Towle as chief investment officer and Bill Huffman as chief operating officer, to be based in the US.
Towle most recently served as chief investment officer for Puget Sound Asset Management where she specialised in providing non-traditional investments through the regulated investment company structure. She was responsible for overall investment strategy, portfolio management, and sub-advisor selection and was also chiefly responsible for new product development and rollout.
Before founding PSAM, Towle was chair and chief executive officer of Towle Associates, which provided advisory services to institutional clients. She began her career at the Frank Russell Company as part of its equity research group.
Huffman takes on his new role having previously been director of quantitative product management for Northern Trust Global Investments based in Chicago. In that position, he was responsible for the development, maintenance, strategy and presentation of Northern's quantitative investment products for both personal and institutional markets.
Prior to this position, he was the audit manager responsible for the worldwide oversight of the treasury, investment management and finance functions of Northern Trust Corporation.
