UK - State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) has strengthened its enhanced equities capability with the appointment of Simon Roe as senior investment manager.
Roe, who will report to Chris Woods, SSgA UK’s chief investment officer, will be responsible for the management of the firm’s enhanced indexation funds in London. SSgA recently confirmed up to E3bn enhanced indexation mandate wins in Europe this year.
Roe joins SSgA from Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) where he was a portfolio manager. Prior to MLIM, he spent three years as a senior consultant at Barra International where he was responsible for marketing, sales and client support to institutions in the UK and the Middle East.
Commenting on the appointment, SSgA said: “We have seen strong interest in our enhanced indexation strategies from our clients in continental Europe and now in the UK. This is a highly risk-controlled approach that delivers the benefits of both indexation and active management: added value on a consistent basis in all market environments. Our decision to strengthen our capability with the appointment of Simon Roe reflects this trend and our commitment to this method of investing.”
