UK - Peter Jeffcote, head of the UK employment, pensions and benefits (EPB) team at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (FBD) is to take over from Ian Terry as a managing partner of the firm.
Terry, who has occupied the role for the last five years, has decided to return to his dispute resolution practice at the beginning of next month.
Peter Jeffcote joined FBD in 1975 and became a partner in the tax department in 1980. He moved to run the EPB department in 1993 and was one of the initial members of the firm’s partnership council when it was set up in 1990. Since the merger between Freshfields and Bruckhaus, he has been co-head of the global EPB practice group.
Following Jeffcote’s appointment on October 1, Jocelyn Mitchell, based in London, will take over as co-head of the EPB practice group, alongside Heinz Josef Willemsen in Dusseldorf.
