UK - Sascha Hirsch has joined Baring Asset Management as an investment manager in the UK and European specialist investment team.
Reporting to Susannah Lloyd - manager of the Baring UK Smaller Companies Trust - Hirsch will manage and research small and mid cap stocks, with a focus on German companies. He will also assist Jan Mantel, head of the UK and European investment team, in overseeing the Baring German Growth Trust.
Hirsch joins BAM from DIT Allianz Dresdner Asset Management in Frankfurt where he was a senior fund manager for the European mid/small cap team.
Commenting on the appointment, Jan Mantel said: “Sascha’s appointment reinforces BAM’s commitment to the European small cap and specialist fund asset class overall.
“This commitment has been rewarded by the strong performance of our Europe Select fund which is currently placed 2nd out of 15 over 12 months. Overall 2002 was an excellent year in which we also showed good outperformance relative to the benchmark on the institutional small cap mandates.”
