UK/US - Conservative pensions spokesman David Willetts has been on a fact-finding trip to the US to learn more about guaranteed pensions.
Willetts met Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation executive director Steven Kandarian to discuss pension security and insurance.
Willetts said: “Insurance of this sort has some big practical obstacles, such as the high potential cost and the problem of moral hazard.
“But I am keen to investigate the issue to see whether there are ways forward for the UK.”
