ITALY - State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) has appointed Marco Fusco to become the managing director of its business and operations in Italy.
Fusco will report to Greg Ehret, head of European sales and distribution for SSgA.
Ehret said Fusco’s appointment demonstrated its commitment to the Italian investment community and said his experience would be instrumental in helping the firm build its business in Italy.
Fusco has joined SSgA from AXA Investment Managers Italy SIM, where he was most recently head of institutional advisory and retail distribution.
Prior to that, he served as director and head of institutional clients internationally for ING Investment Management SGR, and as a senior institutional client relationship manager at Paribas Asset Management.
In a separate development, Andrea Girardelli, director of the €1.7bn Fonchim pension scheme has reportedly said the Italian Pension Reform 2004 will eventually prompt a demand for socially responsible investments (SRI) and private equity funds.
Collective defined contribution (CDC) savers should be allowed to access pension freedoms when the scheme is rolled out, last week's Pensions Buzz respondents said.
