USS attacked for handing chief executive salary boost and bonus as final salary section closes

The Universities Superannuation Scheme has been criticised for awarding its chief executive a £50,000 bonus at the same time it closes its final salary scheme.

The scheme's chief executive Tom Merchant received the bonus as a "recognition award" taking the total salary to £311,000 a year, up from £250,000 in April 2010, according to USS directors report o...
