Excess deaths continue to fall, but remain above pre-pandemic levels

The second quarter of 2023 saw a reduction in the number of excess deaths, but overall mortality remains above levels recorded before the Covid pandemic, research from the Continuous Mortality Investigation (CMI) has shown.
