SWITZERLAND - Investec Asset Management has hired Reinhard Müller from Pioneer as a sales director to boost its institutional distribution in Switzerland.
Müller will be based in Zurich, seeking to boost Investec's cross-border sales. The activity is rich in promise, as research on fund sales from Lipper revealed portfolios sold across borders took in 79% of total European net fund sales last year.
Müller was most recently Pioneer's country head for Switzerland and, before that, GAM's head of institutional business for continental Europe and the Middle East.
At Investec he will report to Richard Garland, managing director for cross-border distribution.
Derek Biggs will continue to cover Investec's distribution in French-speaking Switzerland.
Investec says institutions have shown most interest recently for emerging markets debt, commodities, frontier markets and specialist regional equities.
