AMERICAN CENTURY INVESTMENTS has launched its international business and opened a London sales office in a bid to target UK and European institutional business.

The fund management firm – which specialises in offering investors actively managed equity strategies – said the London office would initially focus on delivering its equity growth strategies across global growth, emerging markets and US growth equity sectors.

The firm’s international development will be headed by senior vice-president of international Michael Green – the former Morgan Stanley Investment Management chief executive officer, who joined the firm in April 2008.

Green said: "We have been providing equity strategies to investors in the US for 50 years. More recently, non-US investors have begun to recognise the applicability of our investment approach to their portfolios, creating a tremendous opportunity for expansion.

"The opening of our London office enables American Century Investments to serve this growing client base more effectively and further develop our international distribution."

All asset management responsibilities will continue to be handled by ACI’s investment management teams in the US.

The firm said it would launch a range of UCITS III funds in order to facilitate the marketing and sale of the firm’s strategies outside the US.
