SWITZERLAND - The board of directors at Zurich Financial Services has appointed Hans-Jurg Bernet as CEO of Zurich Switzerland, effective yesterday.
Bernet, a member of Zurich Switzerland’s management team, takes over from Peter Ecker who is now head of the new continental Europe business division of Zurich Financial Services.
Bernet joined Zurich in 1977 and became a member of the management team in 1994.
Along with general counsel and company secretary Monica Machler-Erne, Bernet has also been appointed to the group management board of Zurich, which now includes 24 members.
Currently general counsel and company secretary at Zurich, Machler-Erne joined the company as a corporate legal advisor after working as a lawyer for a number of years.
