Tony Cole, leader of Mercer's Asia Pacific investment consulting business, said the creation of the new role paved the way to provide a better service in the region.
"We felt there was a fundamental opportunity for Garry to capitalise on the deep expertise he has gained in working with numerous mega-funds and to devote his efforts to serving this demanding and regionally, as well as internationally, important group of investors," Cole said.
"With the depth of his experience and exacting track record of excellence, Garry will be the senior consultant in the region and contribute to the development of staff as a mentor and to our intellectual capital globally."
