In last week's Pensions Buzz (PP, 20 October) one of your respondents asked: "When have you ever known HMRC to be either flexible or fair?"

I have spent my entire working life of 36 years in tax. I would not expect HMRC to be flexible but to administer taxes in their charge in line with legislation; and I have never encountered an HMRC...
