EUROPE - ITG Europe, the technology-based equity trading services group, has hired Mark Freeman to head its hedge fund division.
Freeman, who joins in February 2003, is currently on gardening leave from Instinet after 10 years, where he had responsibility for the company’s UK institutional and hedge fund client base. Other positions include roles at Lehman Brothers and Sheppards & Chase.
Freeman’s move follows ITG’s acquisition of soft commission broker Hoenig & Co in September 2002. His role will be to develop current business.
He reports to Mark Montgomery, ITG Europe’s head of sales trading.
Commenting on the appointment, Montgomery said: “This is a senior appointment and reflects our commitment to strengthening our offering to the hedge fund community.
“We have complemented the products and services that Hoenig offered to hedge funds with ITG’s advanced execution and measurement tools.”
