US - The US$177bn California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) has appointed Donna Lum as its replacement benefit services division chief when Chris Nishioka retires at the end of December.
Lum, who joined the fund in 1999 and currently serves as division chief of CalPERS’ data centre, will oversee the provision of benefits to retirees, beneficiaries and survivors of the fund.
Commenting on the appointment, Kathie Vaughn, assistant executive officer of CalPERS, said: “Donna has strong management skills and a track record of delivering quality programs that benefit our organisation. I’m confident that she will help raise the level of service that we provide our members.”
When she started with CalPERS, Lum managed the retirement fund’s software services unit after serving as chief of the information systems office at the California Department of Education.
Nishioka retires after a 34-year career.
