US - Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairman Christopher Cox has appointed Susan Ferris Wyderko as acting director of the commission's division of investment management, which oversees mutual funds and investment advisers.
Wyderko served most recently as director of the office of investor education and assistance from March 2000. In that position she was principally responsible for the Commission’s outreach to individual investors, ensuring that their problems and concerns are known throughout the Commission and considered when the agency takes action.
Geraldine Walsh, deputy director of the office of investor education and assistance, will replace Wyderko while she is assigned to the investment management division.
The announcement comes just days after Alan Beller, director of the division of corporation finance and senior counsellor to the Commission, announced his departure to return to the private sector.
