US - New York-headquartered Goldman Sachs Group (GS) has appointed Meg Whitman, president and chief executive officer of online auctioneers eBay, to its board of directors.
The GS Board is chaired by Henry Paulson, also chief executive officer.
Whitman’s career includes joining eBay in 1998, from toy manufacturers Hasbro, where she was a general manager. Prior to that she served as president and chief executive officer of Florists Transworld Delivery, and president of the Stride Rite Corporation's Stride Rite division. She has also held senior marketing positions at Walt Disney Company, and Procter & Gamble, and has also worked at consulting firm Bain.
