Former cabinet minister Ed Balls has been announced as the keynote speaker at this year's Pensions and Benefits UK conference.

Balls - who will speak on the second day of the event (26 June) - was shadow chancellor until 2015 and previously served in the cabinet as secretary of state for children, schools and families.

He is now a senior fellow at The Harvard Kennedy School, a visiting professor at King's College London and chairman of Norwich City Football Club.

Balls was also a must-see contestant on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2016, with memorable performances including Gangnam style, which was even nominated for the ‘Must-See Moment' award at the 2017 BAFTA awards.

The two-day conference will take place at The Brewery, London, covering topics on defined benefit consolidation, GMP equalisation, cost transparency, and illiquid investments.
