Conservative moves to step back from the political consensus around personal accounts is "pre-election maneuvering", the pensions minister says.

Speaking at a key note speech at the Professional Pensions Show Angela Eagle said although the consensus was not as stable as it once was pension policy needed to be a long term plan.

She added the hard fought consensus was a matter of compromise and remained "quite strong".
