IMF says Belgium second pillar has raised pension costs

BELGIUM - The IMF has said that the implementation of the second pension pillar and recent decisions on social security spending had raised pension costs above earlier projections.

In a consultation paper, IMF also acknowledged that following the 1997 reforms there was limited scope for further savings through pension reform, other than phasing out early retirement incentives...
