Annuity sales reach post pension freedoms high in 2023

Sales of annuities in 2023 hit their highest levels since the introduction of pension freedoms in 2014, research from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has found.

The trade body's data revealed annuity sales totalled £5.2bn, a 46% increase on 2022's figures. It also showed the number of annuity contracts sold increased to 72,200, a 34% increase, representing...
