The Association of British Insurer’s (ABI) Yvonne Braun and the former chief executive of Coal Pension Trustees Geoff Mellor are among those recognised in the King's Birthday Honours.

Braun – the director of policy, long-term savings, health and protection at the ABI – was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of her services to the pensions industry and to socio-economic diversity.

Mellor – the former chief executive of Coal Pensions Trustees – was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to British Coal Pensioners.

The ABI noted Braun's achievements – including her work on the ABI's cross-sector pensions dashboards pilot, the way in which she led the sector's £100m Covid 19 support fund, and the work she has done spearheading the ABI's diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Commenting on her honour, Braun said: "I am deeply honoured to receive an OBE for services to the pensions industry and socio-economic diversity. Our sector's purpose to help people achieve a financially secure retirement has never been more important, and to achieve it, our sector must truly reflect the customers we serve. My heartfelt thanks go to all members of my teams – I have been incredibly fortunate to work with such talented and motivated colleagues."
