The aggregate surplus of the 4,969 schemes in the Pension Protection Fund’s (PPF) 7800 Index is estimated to have risen from £235.5bn at the end of November from a surplus of £234bn at the end of October.

The figures reflect the first monthly update since the PPF amended its methodology – refining its approach to roll-forward assets and liabilities as part of the publication of The Purple Book last ...
