Trustees need to retain ability to exercise judgement on discretionary increases, APPT says

Pension scheme trustees must not lose the ability to exercise judgement on discretionary, including pre-1997, increases, the Association of Professional Pension Trustees (APPT) says.

Pre-1997 discretionary increases refer to pension increases for benefits accrued before April 1997, which are not automatically tied to inflation and are granted at the discretion of pension truste...
