APPT appoints first co-chairs
12 October
The Association of Professional Pension Trustees (APPT) has appointed council members Christopher Wheeler and Julia Yates as co-chairs.
The pair will succeed current chair Rachel Croft and vice chair Vassos Vassou, who have completed their terms on the council.
Wheeler has been a professional trustee with BESTrustees since 2016 and currently chairs several UK pension schemes, with experience working on schemes with assets up to £12bn and 170,000 members.
Yates is a professional trustee at Vidett and chairs the firm's trustee oversight board. She has over 20 years' experience in pensions, governance and advisory. Before becoming a trustee in 2019, she led PwC's covenant practice in the Midlands.
The APPT said the move to co-chairs will take effect from the association's annual general meeting (AGM) on 21 October and reflects a "considerable increase in workload" as the body has more than doubled in size over the past five years.
