An apology

Professional Pensions editor Jonathan Stapleton apologises for the publication of an article by Barry Parr.

On Tuesday (18 July), I published an article written by professional trustee Barry Parr.

This article caused a huge amount of offence across the pensions industry and has now been removed.

I should not have published this article and am sorry that I did so as well as for the offence it has caused.

Professional Pensions has strived to be a diversity ally. On this occasion both PP and myself have fallen short.

Over the coming weeks and months, I will reflect carefully on the lessons I have learned over the past few days and start the long process of rebuilding the trust of those across the industry who have worked so hard for so long to champion diversity across the industry.

With your help, I pledge to do better in the future and hope I can work with you all to achieve this aim.

Jonathan Stapleton is editor of Professional Pensions
