Investors are increasingly considering the impact of their investments on the environment and society, and real assets are no exception.

Investors are increasingly considering the impact of their investments on the environment and wider society, and real assets are no exception.

The Aviva Investors survey shows that 93% of institutions consider ESG a factor in their investment decisions involving real assets, with 17% stating that ESG and sustainability matters are a critical and deciding factor.

However, as the demand for sustainable investment options rises, the risk of greenwashing becomes more prevalent. The survey found that 52% of institutions see greenwashing as the biggest material risk to investing in sustainable real assets, highlighting the importance of due diligence and the ability of managers to evidence impact.
