USS deficit level rockets to almost £3bn

The Universities Superannuation Scheme is nearly £3bn in deficit after its latest triennial valuation revealed the fund had plunged from a surplus of £707m since 2008.

The universities scheme is now officially 92% funded, down from 103% funded when it undertook its last valuation, with assets of £32.4bn against liabilities of £35.3bn - leaving a £2.9bn shortfall ...
