Stephen Crosbie has been promoted to protection director at Aegon UK.
He recently managed the development of the firm's platform propositions and has more than 20 years of marketing experience, including 10 years working on Aegon's protection business.
He succeeds Dougy Grant who had been in the role since 2014 and oversaw a period of growth.
Grant has been promoted to the role of managing director and will look after Aegon's traditional products across the business.
Crosbie's previous role of commercial marketing and transformation director will be taken on by Andy Manson who will join from KPMG at the end of July.
Crosbie said: "Our recent Q1 results highlighted protection as a strong performer with sales up 18% year-on-year and demonstrated our continued commitment to the protection market. The recent string of product enhancements and digital developments have boosted our presence in the market. There's an exciting future ahead for protection at Aegon."
The government has confirmed the current interim chairwoman of The Pensions Ombudsman (TPO), Caroline Rookes, will continue the role in a permanent capacity.
