SATs accounting spreads add 10% to liabilities

Self-administered trusts used for non-academic university staff are using a 45 basis point spread on discount rate assumptions for different schemes, potentially adding millions to liabilities.

Research from consultant Mercer shows the diverse discount rate assumptions used by SATs ranged from 5.2% a year to 5.65% a year for different schemes, a spread which would add an extra 10% to scheme liabilities....
