General Election 2015: Webb and McClymont lose their seats

Pensions minister Steve Webb and shadow pensions minister Gregg McClymont have both lost their parliamentary seats as a result of yesterday's General Election.

The hugely respected pensions minister Steve Webb was narrowly defeated in the former Liberal Democrat stronghold of Thornbury and Yate by Conservative rival Luke Hall.

Webb received 18,429 votes while Hall received 19,924 votes.

And in the Cumbernauld, Kilsyth & Kirkintilloch East constitunency, shadow pensions minister Gregg McClymont was defeated by the Scottish National Party candidate Stuart McDonald.

McClymont received 14,820 votes while McDonald received 29,572 votes.

In Hampstead & Kilburn, Robin Ellison - the head of strategics development for pensions at law firm Pinsent Masons who was standing as a U Party candidate - lost his deposit after winning just 77 votes in the constituency.
