Helen Dean has taken over from Tim Jones as chief executive of the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST).
Jones (pictured above) said he would step down earlier this year to pursue his interests in the digital money sector.
Before her promotion, Dean was executive director for product and marketing and spent 30 years as a senior civil servant where she worked in pension policy.
She said: "Under Tim Jones' leadership we've built very strong foundations and I'm looking forward to building on those to help NEST to tackle the next stages of auto enrolment.
"With five million people enrolled and another five million to come, auto enrolment has crossed the halfway mark. We've got an amazing team of people at NEST and we're all focused on our mission - helping millions more people save for retirement."
