Nikko Asset Management has appointed Udo von Werne as chief executive of its EMEA business.
The asset management firm said von Werne will become chief executive of Nikko Asset Management Europe and report to Nikko Asset Management President and chief executive Takumi Shibata.
von Werne has more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry, most recently as head of institutional clients for continental Europe at Pictet Asset Management. Prior to this he has worked for businesses including Zurich Financial Services and UBS.
Nikko Asset Management has been expanding across EMEA - saying the region is "strategic" for the firm and represents substantial asset potential.
Executive chairman David Semaya explained: "Europe, the Middle East, and Africa represent not only a substantial asset base, but also a talent pool that Nikko Asset Management aims to leverage worldwide, encompassing investment experience which is key to continuing global growth."
The government has confirmed the current interim chairwoman of The Pensions Ombudsman (TPO), Caroline Rookes, will continue the role in a permanent capacity.
