Barry Parr has revealed he is stepping down as co-chairman of the Association of Member Nominated Trustees (AMNT) after more than five years.

At the association's annual general meeting today, he told PP that it was for the "good of the organisation" and that he would be pursuing other opportunities in pensions.

Parr will remain on the committee of AMNT for a year and continue his duties with the group.

He said: "I have made a request to stand down from being a co-chair because I have done it for five years, I am now into my sixth year and that is enough. It needs a change both for the organisation to refresh it but also for myself because I am looking for more time to seek other opportunities in the pension world."

Members of AMNT also voted Padraig Floyd, Alan Gander, John Paradise and Peter Sparkes as new members to sit on the committee which will have its first meeting in March.

At that meeting Parr's successor will be selected.

Floyd is a well-known journalist and trustee director at Pearson Group Pension Plan while Gander is a trustee on Lend Lease UK Pension Scheme.

Paradise is a member nominated trustee for St Andrews Healthcare, one of the UK's oldest established charitable providers for the mentally ill, and Sparkes is a trustees at Thomas Cooke.

AMNT's membership increased by 50% to 565 members as of 17 February this year representing almost 400 schemes with assets under management in excess of £600bn.
